Glossolysis
2021 – Public performance, haircut, print
Glossolysis is a public performance piece about the questioning of common law, and the liberation of character from institutionalization – conditioning.

The name of the mythological character is the combination of the Greek words Glossa meaning tongue, and Lysis meaning breaking apart. The piece borrows elements from the story of Moses who after talking with God he brought the 10 commandments into existence for humanity to follow.
Glossolysis instead brought back the ten appeals, challenging authority, questioning social and legal norms, and investigating how personal moral guides and their investigation are leading to the development of one’s genuine identity. The artwork consists of the emblematic haircut as a reference to Moses and the (office quality) print that carries the ten appeals.

The mythology of Glossolysis is ongoing under the project “Glossolysis Sightings” were the Ten Appeals appear in toilets of art institutions and galleries across the world. Their toilets play the role of temples. Public spaces that turn private for moments of bodily catharsis and deliberate solitude.
